True or False
Ostriches bury their heads in the sand.
This is a popular myth. Ostriches do not bury their heads in the sand to hide from danger. When threatened, they usually run away at speeds up to 70 km/h. If they can't escape, they may lie down and flatten their long necks against the ground to be less visible. Sometimes they lower their heads into their nests to turn eggs, which likely gave rise to the misconception.
