True or False

All diamonds are formed from coal.

This is a common and persistent myth! Most natural diamonds form deep within the Earth's mantle from carbon-bearing fluids, under extreme pressure and high temperatures. Coal, on the other hand, is a sedimentary rock formed closer to the Earth's surface, and there's almost no evidence that coal directly transforms into diamonds. In fact, most diamonds are significantly older than the first coal deposits on Earth.
