True or False
The sound of thunder travels faster than the light from lightning.
That's false. In reality, the light from lightning travels incredibly much faster than the sound of thunder. The speed of light is almost 300,000 kilometers per second, while the speed of sound in air is only about 343 meters per second. This is why you always see the lightning first and then hear the thunder – a delay that increases the further away the lightning strikes.
